We look at England's Euro 2020 fixtures in 2021, as well as their potential route through the knockout stages.

Gareth Southgate has named his final 26-man squad and England warmed up for their tournament opener on June 13 with narrow wins over Austria and Romania.

Friday, June 18 - Group D: England vs Scotland; kick-off 8pm (London)

Tuesday, June 22 - Group D: Czech Republic vs England; kick-off 8pm (London)

The top two in each group qualify, plus four of the six best third-placed teams.

  • Group A: Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Wales
  • Group B: Belgium, Russia, Denmark, Finland
  • Group C: Ukraine, Netherlands, Austria, North Macedonia
  • Group D: England, Croatia, Czech Republic, Scotland

Last 16 knockout stage

This is where England's gameplan becomes a lot more interesting.

Gareth Southgate might even prefer to avoid a potential last-16 meeting with one of Portugal, Germany, France or Hungary, who lie in wait if England win Group D.

If England finish second in their group, they will likely face an on-paper easier opponent in the next round - the runner-up from Group E, meaning one of Spain, Sweden, Poland or Slovakia.

There are three potential outcomes if England finish third in Group D but still qualify.

Depending on which other groups have three qualifiers, there are 10 possible combinations for the overall last-16 line-ups.

Five of those possible combinations - and statistically the most likely - would see England facing the winner of Group C (containing Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia), three playing the winner of Group E (containing Spain, Sweden, Poland and Slovakia), and only two against the winner of Group B (containing Denmark, Finland, Belgium and Russia).

If England win Group D...

Tuesday, June 29 - vs Group F runners-up (Portugal, France, Germany, Hungary); kick-off 5pm (London)

If England finish second in Group D...

Monday, June 28 - vs Group E runners-up (Spain, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia); kick-off 5pm (Copenhagen)

If England finish as one of four best third-place teams...

One of:

Sunday, June 27 - vs Group C winners (Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, North Macedonia); kick-off 5pm (Budapest)

Sunday, June 27 - vs Group B winners (Denmark, Finland, Belgium and Russia); kick-off 8pm (Seville)

Tuesday, June 29: vs Group E winners (Spain, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia); kick-off 8pm (Glasgow)
