Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has signed a new contract to keep him in the role until the summer of 2025.

The Dane's previous deal had been due to expire at the end of next season.

The 48-year-old was appointed Bees boss in October 2018 and guided Brentford to promotion from the Championship last season to take the club into the Premier League for the first time.

Following Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to Wolves, Brentford are currently 14th in the Premier League, eight points above the relegation zone.

The west London side have won six games in their first top-flight campaign since 1947, including victories over Arsenal and West Ham.

Frank said in a video message on Brentford's official Twitter feed: "I feel privileged that I have the chance and opportunity to continue this fantastic journey.

"I've been here for five years and it has been a privilege and enjoyment every single day to work with this group of players and a fantastic staff, and also with the fantastic fans.

"We created a lot of Brentford history. I'm looking forward to doing my best every single day to try to create some new history with all the fantastic people at the club."

Frank's assistant Brian Riemer has also signed a new contract until the summer of 2025.

Brentford director of football, Phil Giles, said: "On behalf of everyone at Brentford, I'd like to congratulate Thomas and Brian on their new contracts.

"First and foremost, they are fantastic people to work with and I'm sure everyone at the club will be pleased that they have committed to stay with us until 2025.

"They have been integral to the success that we've shared over recent seasons, culminating in achieving our shared target of playing in the Premier League.

"We want to continue to take Brentford forward, to compete with clubs far bigger than us, and to see how far we can progress.

"I am sure that we can build on the success that Thomas and Brian have helped deliver along with all of the other staff and players and look forward to what I hope will be a successful conclusion to the season and beyond."

Brentford in advanced talks to sign Eriksen

Brentford are in advanced talks over finalising terms on a six-month contract with Christian Eriksen, but the deal will not break the club's wage structure.

All parties are in agreement on a deal, but it is not expected to be officially completed in the next 48 hours.

The Bees are now in the process of doing due diligence on his fitness to play. He will also need to obtain a work permit.

The Good Morning Transfers team have spoken to Premier League doctors to find out what steps Christian Eriksen would have to go through to make a return to the league

The medical process Eriksen will have to go through will be more complicated than the typical new signing given he suffered a cardiac arrest just seven months ago, while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020, and has an ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) fitted to his heart.
