Premier League kits: New strips for 2022/23

With the 2022/23 season on the horizon, it's that time of year - time to see whose kits are hot and not across the Premier League.

The dawn of every new season brings with it fresh hope on the pitch and fresh threads in the kitbag.

From retro designs to bold, graphic prints, keep track of all the fresh looks as they are released...

Arsenal

Arsenal's 2022/23 adidas home kit features the striking addition of a collar and new lightning bolt accents.

The Gunners wore the kit for the first time in their final Premier League game of the 2021/22 season against Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, May 22.

Five pounds from every shirt sale made by Arsenal will be donated to the Arsenal Foundation, the club's charity which supports local community initiatives.

Arsenal have also unveiled a slick all-black away strip which is said to pay tribute to the club's "passionate" global fanbase.

While the home kit honours the local community, the away pays homage to the many "little Islingtons" created by the Gunners' worldwide following.

The adidas logo and Emirates sign are in bronze while the three stipes on the sleeves are in metallic.

The Gunners have also unveiled a pink third kit celebrating the community. It is the first pink shirt released in the club's history.

Arsenal's iconic Ermine pattern - first seen on the club crest in the late 1940s - is printed all over the top, accompanied by navy shorts and pink socks.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa's new home kit "merges our unrivalled legacy with technical innovation".

It is the first kit to be designed by Castore, following the club's three-year deal with Kappa.

Villa say the advanced engineering and cutting-edge fabrics deliver a high-performance jersey "fit for the elite".

On July 22, the club revealed their away kit for 2022/23, which "displays tonal jacquard stripes in our timeless club blue, ribbed cuffs and a V-neckline with claret trim to combine classic sophistication with ultra-modern technical details."

Bournemouth

Bournemouth have unveiled a catching new home kit ahead of their Premier League return - a modern twist on the red and black stripes that harks back to 'iconic kits from the early nineties'.

Scott Parker's side will don the Umbro strip during the 2022/23 season, with the zig-zag design of the stripes said to be 'inspired by and reflective of the club's architectural stadium pillars'.

It is also the first kit to feature new primary sponsors Dafabet, who have taken over front-of-shirt billing from Poole-based business MSP Capital.

The Cherries' third kit has been inspired by their 'Everyone, Together' campaign, which has looked to tackle prejudice and celebrate diversity around the club.

Brentford

Brentford already announced last November that they would continue to wear the same home kit as the one they wore during their historic maiden Premier League campaign in 2021/22.

On July 22, they revealed a 'second shirt' - which will also be worn for the next two seasons - that incorporates the castle badge used by the club from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s.

Chelsea

Chelsea's new kit for the 2022/23 season pays homage to Ted Drake, who joined the club 70 years ago and was the manager who led the Blues to their first league title in 1955.

Drake was influential in changing Chelsea's nickname from 'the Pensioners' to 'the Blues', believing it was more befitting of the team he was building, and also helped to introduce an image of a lion to the club's badge - something that remains there to this day.

Interestingly, Cesar Azpilicueta and Christian Pulisic - two players who have been linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge this summer - feature prominently in the promotional video for the new kit.

Crystal Palace

Macron have returned to be Crystal Palace's kit makers again and have not waited to make their impact on the club's shirts for the coming season.

How much can you change a red and blue stripe? Well, quite a lot - the Eagles' home kit for 2022/23 includes an unusual scribble effect with a thick white trim on both the collar and arms.

Palace have stuck with tradition and produced an away kit in keeping with several recent versions as the blue and red sash features again down the centre of a white shirt with white shorts and socks as used during the 2015/16, 2019/20 and 2020/21 campaigns.

Everton

Everton pay homage to the central element of the club's crest - the Prince Rupert's Tower - in their new 2022/23 home shirt.

An embossed tower pattern is repeated across the whole jersey, with white panels and round neck completing the design.

Two hummel chevrons go down the arms as well as on the sides of white shorts and at the back of white socks with blue fold-over.

Everton's new away kit also pays tribute to the Prince Rupert's Tower. The shirt is "an eye-catching rosebloom pink", as are the socks, while the shorts are blue.

Both kits are produced using the Eco 8 process, as in previous Everton hummel kits. Each shirt is made from eight bottles, and uses minimal water in the dying process, further supporting the club's commitment to its Everton for Change environmental campaign.

Fulham

Fulham have dropped their home and away kits for the new season. The classic white home offering features a special design on the sleeve cuffs and collar which "represents the ebb and flow of the River Thames". Black shorts and white socks accompany the shirt.

The newly promoted Premier League club have a striking away kit with a bold pulse mint hue, featuring a detailed modern interpretation of the Craven Cottage brickwork across the front of the body. The kit is finished off with pulse mint shorts and socks.

Leeds

Leeds say their new home shirt "is a celebration of the club and its loyal supporters".

The fabric of the white jersey features the iconic LUFC script as a repeat print to recognise the 50th anniversary of the 1972 cup-winning side.

Leeds have also released an eye-catching new away kit which sees their classic club colours of yellow and blue reimagined in a bespoke tie dye print.

The club explained: "The explosion of pulse yellow blended with a dark blue for the shirt is a modern take on some of our iconic yellow kits from the 70s and the colour coordinated club crest sits proudly on the chest."

Leicester

Leicester unveiled their home shirt in June, and it carries iconic elements of shirts of past eras.

The shirt features a prominent white collar and neck trim - synonymous with the Jimmy Bloomfield sides of the 1970s - and the popular 'dynamic fox' made famous by the like of Gary Lineker and Alan Smith in the 1980s.

Liverpool

Liverpool unveiled their new Nike home kit for the 2022/23 season in early May.

The red home shirt is described as being inspired by the attitude of 'Scouse solidarity', with a bold, no-nonsense design reflecting "the mentality of its people". It features intricate YNWA detailing on the sleeve cuff to represent the strong bond between the fans and the club.

A 97 emblem encased by the Eternal Flames sits proudly at the nape of the neck in memory of the children, women and men who lost their lives in the Hillsborough tragedy. The change from 96 to 97 is in recognition of Andrew Stanley Devine, the 97th person unlawfully killed as a result of the Hillsborough disaster.

The Reds have also released a new away kit which features a dizzying design inspired by the city's music scene.

The shirt pays homage to the pioneering role Liverpool played when its clubs ruled the world during the popular 90s dance music era with its iridescent, multi-coloured marbled pattern over a white base colour.

Manchester City

Manchester City's home kit for the 2022/23 season features a special tribute to legendary figures in the club's history.

The City badge has been moved to the centre of the sky blue PUMA strip with maroon trim, in a nod to the iconic kit worn by late club legend Colin Bell when he guided the Blues to the First Division title in 1967/68.

City supporters will be able to get Bell's name printed on the shirt, in addition to fellow legendary figures Francis Lee and Mike Summerbee.

City have also revealed their away kit, which is inspired by the club's class of 1969. Conceived by the legendary Malcolm Allison, vertical stripes of red and black proved triumphant at the 1969 FA Cup Final, and the 1970 League Cup and European Cup Winners' Cup finals.

Manchester United

Manchester United have released their home shirt for the 2022/23 Premier League season.

And despite uncertainty surrounding his future at Old Trafford, Cristiano Ronaldo features in the promotional images posted on the club's official website.

The description reads: "With performance, comfort and the club's heritage at the forefront of its design, the 2022/23 home shirt features a stylish patterned polo collar, which bears resemblance to some of the club's most memorable kits throughout history.

"It's also a subtle nod to some of our former greats, whose unique style on and off the pitch made their kit their own."

United have also unveiled a new away kit ahead of the forthcoming season.

It's the first time white has been used for their away jersey since the 2015/16 campaign. The shirts are made from 100 per cent recycled material and feature helixes woven into the fabric,

Newcastle

Newcastle have unveiled their new home kit for the 2022/23 season, for their first full season under their new Saudi-led owners.

The traditional black and white stripes remain on the jersey once again, with a collar from the same colours also on the strip.

The club say the new kit pays tribute to its 130-year history and "combines traditional elements of the club's memorable home kits together with modern touches".

Newcastle have launched their away kit for the forthcoming campaign.

The navy design contains gold detailing and a sleeve print inspired by the design of Leazes Stand to celebrate St James' Park. The Castore shirt is crafted from lightweight and high-stretch materials that offer exceptional ease of movement and breathability.

The Magpies' third kit has caused somewhat of a stir - although it is not mentioned explicitly by the club, the white and green colours are the same as those used in the flag of Saudi Arabia.

Nottingham Forest

Notice anything unusual about Nottingham Forest's new home kit? The promoted Tricky Trees have no sponsor on their shirt - for now. It's not an intentional move to keep an already crisp and clean shirt more plain though.

The club are still in talks over confirming a main shirt sponsor for next season, and have told supporters once a deal has been agreed the additional logo can be applied in the club shop.

There is some variation from the all-red body too, with a nod to Trent Bridge part of a pattern on either sleeve.

Southampton

Southampton say their new home shirt is a "true statement piece" which draws inspiration from those worn by the "flamboyant and free-flowing" Saints side of the early '80s.

Reversing the colours of the shirt first worn by the likes of Kevin Keegan, Alan Ball and Charlie George, the kit has moved away from their traditional red and white strips and instead features one central red stripe and central badge.

Saints added: "With this season's bold kit, we are celebrating bravery both on and off the pitch. We've taken inspiration from the single bold red stripe, wanting to inspire our fans to be brave, whatever their challenge is - just as our players seek to be brave on the pitch."

Meanwhile, Southampton have described their away strip as 'their boldest yet'.

Continuing their partnership with hummel, the new teal, aqua and gold away shirt takes inspiration from the docks and proximity to the Solent.

Tottenham

Tottenham's home shirt for the new season contains a neon volt strip on the collar and the sleeves, with Spurs describing the jersey as "a classic shirt design that brings a sense of authenticity and togetherness amongst our fans".

Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son were part of the club's official launch, alongside members of the club's academy and women's team.

The shirt is made of 100 per cent polyester and will be worn by the men's first-team squad for the first time in their opening pre-season match against Team K-League in Seoul on July 13.

Spurs have also launched a "Dare to be Bold" away strip, combining a deep lapis blue shade with dark sleeves and neon yellow trim.

Antonio Conte's men will wear the new away kit for the first time during the pre-season friendly with Spanish club Sevilla in South Korea.

West Ham

West Ham's home shirt features the classic claret and blue, but with a new design on the shoulders. It represents the club's architectural stadium lines with a distorted linear graphic.

The Umbro shirt is paired with light blue shorts - also featuring the unique design - and claret socks with blue trim.

"Keep it simple" is Umbro's tag line for the Hammers' new away kit, with a mostly black shirt contrasted with claret, blue and white patterns at the base of both sleeves which have been inspired by East London's diversity, and the club's origin as Thames Ironworks.

Wolves

Wolves have unveiled their new Castore home strip for the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

The old gold kit is the first to display the club's landmark partnership with AstroPay, who feature on the front of shirts in addition to the 12Bet logo as Wolves' new sleeve partner.

The kit is completed by old gold socks and black shorts.

The club's away kit comes in teal and gold, and is said to be inspired by the girders and design of the Billy Wright stand at Molineux. The colour is a nod to Wolves' away kit from the late 1990s, when the club finished third in Division One in a season where Steve Bull scored his 17th, and penultimate, hat-trick of his club career against Grimsby.
