England striker Ivan Toney has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm, following a nightclub incident in December 2025.
Toney, who featured at the World Cup and plays his club football for Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday September 24.
England are due to play World Cup winners Spain two days later in a Nations League game at Wembley.
A spokesperson for Toney said: "Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court."
The charge relates to an assault which reportedly took place on Wardour Street in London.
Toney was a surprise selection in Thomas Tuchel's England squad this summer and went on to make appearances in the semi-final against Argentina as a late substitute and then started the third-place play-off win over France.
Toney, aged 30, joined Al Ahli in August 2024 from Brentford for a transfer fee of £40m. He scored 72 goals in 141 games for Brentford, including 36 in their three seasons in the Premier League.
Toney missed the first half of the 2023/24 season due to a gambling ban but went on to feature in England's run to the Euro 2024 final. The Saudi Pro League season begins on August 13.
