Hero keeper happy to stay at Pittodrie for three more years
Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The Uefa Cup win over Copenhagen on Thursday night, coupled with the news that the club will face Bayern Munich in the last 32 of the competition, has lifted everyone's spirits at the club and securing their keeper for the foreseeable represents more good news.
Langfield put in an impressive display during the 4-0 drubbing of the Danish side, and becomes the first of a number of players whose contract is expiring to commit themselves to the club.
The Dons currently have nine other players, and manager Jimmy Calderwood, out of contract in the summer, but progression in Europe could provide the financial security the club need to tie up new deals.
Dropped
The last few days have been even more remarkable for Langfield considering that he was dropped from the side at the start of the season as a result of unprofessional behaviour.
However, he won his place back in time for the club's first Uefa Cup game against Dnipro, and has not looked back since.
