Langfield happy at Dons

Jamie Langfield has revealed he has never considered quitting Aberdeen for a move to England.

Jamie Langfield has revealed he has never considered quitting Aberdeen for a move to England.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper has capped a fine season with the Dons after claiming the fans' Player of the Year award.

Langfield has seen other players quit the SPL for the lure of football in England only to see them fail to make the grade.

The former Dunfermline and Partick Thistle man is more than happy at Pittodrie, regardless of whether he could earn more money elsewhere.

No point

"If you're happy at a club there is no point in moving to earn a bit more money," said Langfield. "I've seen players go south, it hasn't worked out and it sets their careers back.

"I love it at Aberdeen so leaving has never crossed my mind.

"This has been the best season of my career and being dropped for last season's Scottish Cup semi-final against Queen of the South was the catalyst. It finally clicked I had to get my finger out."

Belief

Meanwhile, Langfield believes Aberdeen can still usurp Dundee United into fourth spot, despite being three points behind the Terrors going into the final game of the season.

"I would rather be in our position than United's. They will be under pressure as Rangers only need a 1-0 win to be champions," he concluded.

"I'm not saying we'll have it any easier against Hibs. We should have secured our place in Europe weeks ago and are annoyed we did not."
