Brighton have handed Radostin Kishishev a one-year deal after the Bulgaria international impressed while on trial.
The experienced defender, who joins the Seagulls from Bulgarian club Litex Lovech, was keen to make the return to England following previous stints with Charlton, Leeds and Leicester.
And after a short pre-season trial period, Brighton manager Gus Poyet believes 35-year-old Kishishev has much to offer the League One club.
"He may be pushing 36, but he is an excellent professional, and has kept himself in superb shape throughout his career - and that is why he still has a lot to offer," Poyet told Brighton's official website.
"His quality is obvious, there is no doubt about that, but we had to be sure about his fitness - but he has proved that age is no barrier.
"That experience and quality will bring a lot to the team, and will also help our younger players in their development."
Kishishev has played near 250 senior games in English football, mostly during his seven-year stint at Charlton, and has previously worked with Poyet at Leeds United.
