City defender set for season-long loan switch

Skysports.com understands Walsall are set to win the race to sign Manchester City defender Ryan McGivern. Crystal Palace and Oldham expressed an interest in signing the full-back on loan, but Walsall have stolen in to lure the Northern Ireland international to the Banks' Stadium. Walsall are believed to have agreed a season-long loan deal with City for McGivern as Saddlers boss Chris Hutchings looks to bolster his squad. McGivern spent last season on loan at Leicester and with first-team chances at Eastlands limited he has decided to go out on loan again. The full-back's signing will come as a boost to Walsall as they prepare for the big kick-off in League One in just over a week.
