Well ace thrilled to pen 12-month extension

Motherwell winger Chris Humphrey has told skysports.com of his delight at signing a contract extension. Humphrey has been in outstanding form for Well this season and his performances have attracted the interest of a number of clubs in England and Scotland. Motherwell have moved to ward off the suitors by agreeing a one-year extension with the winger to keep him in Lanarkshire until 2013. The news is a massive boost for Motherwell ahead of this weekend's Co-Op Insurance Cup semi-final with Rangers at Hampden Park and Humphrey insists he had no hesitation in extending his stay.

Swift answer

"When the club approached me and asked if I would sign an extension to my contract it was an immediate answer," he told skysports.com. "When my family and I were going through a very difficult time the club and the fans offered us amazing support. "I could not be happier than to agree to extend my contract with a club that offers the support that we received when we needed it. "I just hope I can perform to the best of my ability and repay the faith shown in me by both the club and the fans." Humphrey is looking forward to coming up against Rangers in Sunday's semi-final as Motherwell look to book their place in the final.
Opportunity
"I can't wait for the game," added Humphrey. "It's a great opportunity for us. It would be a great experience playing at Hampden, if I am selected. "Having played at Wembley it would be amazing to play at Hampden as well- more so if we can go through and play there again!" The 21-year-old has been linked with a call-up to the Scotland squad as a result of his impressive performances this season, but he is just focusing on doing his best for Motherwell. "The Scotland issue I honestly am not thinking about too much," he said. "As long as I am doing the best I can for the well that is all I am focusing on. "If there is any talk of me being considered I hope it is only because we as a club are doing well, sorry about the pun!"
