Cardiff City chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee admits he is on cloud nine after seeing his side reach the Carling Cup final.

The Bluebirds beat Crystal Palace on penalties at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night to set up a final at Wembley.

They will play either Liverpool or Manchester City who meet at Anfield on Wednesday night.

It is the third time in five years that the Welsh club have reached England's national stadium, having lost to Portsmouth in the FA Cup final in 2008 and losing to Blackpool in the Championship play-off final in 2010.

Cardiff are also aiming for promotion from the Championship this season and currently sit just one point behind Southampton, who occupy the second automatic promotion place.

They will face five league games before the showpiece on 26th February and Ghee explains that he is struggling to cope with the excitement.

Remain focused

He told Sky Sports News: "I haven't quite come down to earth yet but one always has to remain focused about the next day or two because we're playing Southampton away, but (Tuesday night) was amazing.

"I believe that we really deserved to win and it's a great thing.

"Frankly, I was terrified, but on the other hand I felt that we've been tested many times and with this team we play to the end, we try and we give our everything.

"Whilst we were still playing I still believed that we could make it and we did."
