County line up replacement for Allen

Sky Sports understands former QPR coach Keith Curle is a leading contender for the manager's job at Notts County. County are looking for a new manager after Martin Allen was axed hours after Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Hartlepool. Allen was surprisingly sacked by the County board despite the side sitting in 11th spot in the League One table. 48-year-old Curle is thought to figure highly on Notts County's wanted list to replace Allen at Meadow Lane. Curle has been out of work since leaving his role as first-team coach at QPR in January following the departure of Neil Warnock and the former Manchester City defender is thought to be keen to get back into management in his own right. The ex-England international had management spells with Mansfield, Chester City and Torquay prior to joining Warnock at QPR and he could be offered a route back into management at Notts County.
