Manager delighted after Spurs see off Swansea
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was impressed by his side's display against Swansea on Sunday, reserving special praise for man-of-the-match Gareth Bale.
Spurs ended a run of five games without a win with a 3-1 success over the Welsh side at White Hart Lane, with an Emmanuel Adebayor brace following up Rafael van der Vaart's opener.
The win sees Redknapp's men move level on points with third-placed Arsenal in the Premier League and the manager was delighted with his players, particularly Welsh winger Bale.
Amazing
"He's just an amazing talent. He's an amazing player," he told
Sky Sports.
"He's got the ability to run all day, to beat people, to dribble, to shoot, to head it - he can do everything. He's a unique player really, he's a special talent.
"But everybody was on their game today. I thought we defended well. We got good blocks in, the two centre halves. I thought the midfield people all closed down and pressed well.
"Obviously Manny (Adebayor) getting two goals as well was great for him."
The manager paid tribute to Brendan Rodgers' Swans and believes his side did well to contain them.
"I thought we were fantastic. (In the) first half we did everything that we asked of them; we pressed them, closed them, had all the chances," he said.
"They started well for the first maybe eight, nine, 10 minutes then we really got after them all over the park and broke their game up.
"They're a good side, they play fantastic football, but I don't think we ever let them play in that first half. They came back into it and got the goal but then we came back strong again."
Redknapp has been pleased with results over the last seven days after Spurs frustrated Chelsea at home before knocking Bolton out of the FA Cup in midweek.
He added: "It's been a good week. We went to Chelsea last week and played ever so well and really I thought we could have won the game, which is never easy, going to Stamford Bridge and getting a result like that.
"We came back home and played well against Bolton in midweek and then today again so it's been a good week."
Tight
Redknapp believes the battle for third and fourth spots will go down to the wire despite his team moving five points clear of Chelsea and Newcastle with seven games remaining.
"It's going to be tight. I wouldn't write Chelsea off, I wouldn't write Newcastle off - they've done a miracle as well - and Arsenal obviously are bang there," he said.
"It's going to be interesting but that's what football is about. That's what supporters want - they want excitement. It's going to be a great end to the season."
