Spurs boss defends selection policy after Corluka concerns
Harry Redknapp has defended his management style after one of his own players blamed his selection policy for Tottenham's faltering finish.
Croatian defender Vedran Corluka, who was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen in January, claimed Spurs' run of one win in nine Premier League games was down to Redknapp's reluctance to rotate his starting XI.
Spurs were sitting pretty in third for most of the season but now face missing out on a UEFA Champions League qualification spot.
They are currently three points adrift of fourth-placed Newcastle and could begin Sunday's home clash against Blackburn in sixth depending on the previous day's results.
But Redknapp has rubbished Corluka's suggestion his players are tired.
Excuse
"I am very happy with what I've done," said the 65-year-old. "The players have probably played on average 30 games this year and I don't think it is a lot.
"I don't ever remember Bobby Moore getting rotated, nor Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters, Dave Mackay or Alan Mullery. They played ankle deep in mud every week.
"It's my decision. It's difficult to rotate a team. It's okay to rotate if you have enough players to do it, but I have not been in that position due to injuries.
"If people keep telling players they're tired, they'll believe it. It's a load of nonsense. It's an excuse."
Redknapp also dismissed claims he had a bust-up with Emmanuel Adebayor as "lies" and said the club would "love" to keep the striker at White Hart Lane next season.
