Fulham coach happy to report back on Liverpool triumph

Fulham first-team coach Billy McKinlay is looking forward to reporting back to ill manager Martin Jol after Tuesday night's 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield. Cottagers boss Jol was not on Merseyside to watch his troops claim their first-ever victory at the home of the Reds, courtesy of Martin Skrtel's own goal in just the fifth minute of the contest, as he continues to recover from a chest infection. The same illness prevented the Dutchman from travelling to Goodison Park on Saturday for Fulham's 4-0 drubbing, with McKinlay much happier to run his boss through the events of Tuesday night's contest. The London club were rarely troubled by an insipid Liverpool side and could have won by a greater margin with substitute Kerim Frei striking the post and Clint Dempsey denied on two occasions by Alexander Doni. "It will be a better conversation than I had with him after the game on Saturday, so I will give him a call soon," McKinlay told Sky Sports.

Delighted

"I'm delighted with the result. We started really well, got an early goal and played some good football. Overall, I'm really delighted with the performance. "Saturday was a difficult result for us. We were unhappy with how we performed so I knew I would get a reaction here. "Liverpool put us under a little bit of pressure and in the second half they started on the front foot with some dangerous balls into the box which I thought we coped with quite well. "As the game progressed we had two or three chances to sew it up, so I am really pleased. "We are always confident we can get a result, regardless of who we play, so that was uppermost in our mind."
