Giant defender wants to avoid missing out on the title again

Nemanja Vidic insists the Manchester United players have learned lessons from missing out on the title to bitter rivals City on a dramatic final day of last season Sidelined with injury, the United skipper could only look and watch as Manchester City scored two goals deep into stoppage-time against QPR to be crowned champions on goal difference. With a number of other key players forced into the treatment room, Sir Alex Ferguson had to play more young players than he might have liked during a time when experience is all in a title run-in. Vidic is now back to full fitness after his knee injury and he is adamant that a repeat is not on the cards this season as everyone at United is wiser for the heart-breaking experience.

Relaxed

"We had some young players play a lot of games last season and they'll have learned a lot. We all learned," Vidic told the club's official website. "In Europe we've had so much success in recent years - we've had three finals, a semi-final - and maybe we relaxed a bit last season. "We were punished and we can't allow that to happen again. We had a few injuries last season too. I hope everyone can stay fit this season. "The young players can learn from last year, so I'm confident we'll be better this year."
