Aberdeen have been contacted by the Scottish Football Association with regards to a complaint made by Shay Logan against Celtic’s Aleksandar Tonev over the weekend.
The Dons’ full-back alleges he was racially abused by the on-loan Bulgarian during the second half of Saturday’s match which the champions won 2-1.
Logan immediately informed team-mate and captain Mark Reynolds and manager Derek McInnes of the alleged incident and the club subsequently referred the matter to the SFA.
In a statement Aberdeen said: "The club confirms it has been contacted by the SFA regarding the alleged racist comment during the game on Saturday, 14 September, 2014.
"The club will co-operate fully with this investigation. As an employer we support unconditionally any employee who is the subject of any form of abuse and as such believe it is appropriate to allow the SFA the time necessary to carry out a full investigation.
"Consequently, no club official or employee will be making any further comment while the matter is under investigation by the national association."
A spokesperson for Celtic said on Monday: "We have spoken to the player and he has stated that the accusation made is not true.”
Tonev was making his Celtic debut after arriving on a one-year loan deal from Aston Villa.
