Riot police were called in as protesters attempted to disrupt a lecture being given by FIFA president Sepp Blatter in Zurich.

Between 60 and 100 students gained access to the building and let off at least one smoke bomb, although they were prevented from accessing the lecture room itself by police wearing helmets and body protectors.

Transport links in the region around ETH University ground to a halt for around two hours as protesters carrying banners with slogans such as 'Chase Blatter Away' caused havoc.

The 78-year-old, who lives in the Swiss city, is planning to stand for a fifth term as FIFA president in next year’s election and was conducting a talk entitled 'Football as a School of Life.'
