We look back at the first Clasico between Pep Guardiola's Barcelona and Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid

As Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola prepare to renew their rivalry in Saturday's Manchester derby, we take a look at the first time the two heavyweights of management met in El Clasico.

Unbeaten in the first 12 games of the season, Mourinho and his star-studded Real Madrid side travelled to the Camp Nou looking to stake an early claim to the Primera Division crown.

The game was billed as a showdown between the world's two best players - Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo - and it was the mercurial Barca frontman who stole the show on this occasion as he inspired the back-to-back La Liga champions to a resounding victory over their rivals from the capital.

Goals from Xavi, Pedro, a David Villa brace and Jeffren's late strike sealed a 5-0 triumph, while Sergio Ramos' late dismissal added insult to injury for Mourinho's men.
