Spalletti rules out bid to sign Arsenal midfielder in January

Zenit St Petersburg coach Luciano Spalletti has ruled out making a bid to bring Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin back to the club. The Russia international has been linked with a return to Zenit after starting just five games in the Premier League this season. He initially left Zenit for the Gunners in 2009, but is reportedly unsettled at Emirates Stadium due to being in and out of Arsene Wenger's side. However, while Spalletti acknowledged his admiration of Arshavin, he confirmed he does not have any plans to try to sign the 30-year-old. Spalletti told Russian website SPB: "Arshavin - he's a very strong footballer. If we need a player of his qualities then we'll try to sign him. "But at the moment we don't have such a need."
