Villa boss praises striker's influence during loan spell
Alex McLeish is hoping Aston Villa will be Robbie Keane's first choice if the striker decides to return to the Premier League again.
Keane's loan spell at Villa Park from Los Angeles Galaxy expires after Saturday's game against Wigan Athletic and he has scored three goals in six appearances for McLeish's side.
The Republic of Ireland international only moved to Major League Soccer from Tottenham last summer, but has been linked with a full-time return to English football at the end of the campaign.
McLeish believes the signing has been a success, and added that there could be scope for a deal in the close-season.
Influence
He said: "Who knows? We just need to wait and see what happens between now and then.
"Robbie's been a breath of fresh air. He's a good leader, he's a talker, and he's a very good footballer.
"It's been great to have him around, and hopefully, some of his influences have rubbed off on some of the younger players.
"Maybe we've forged a relationship now, and hopefully Robbie thinks of us first if he's going to do this again next season."
