Bolton boss enjoying the chance to help on-loan winger progress

Owen Coyle is enjoying working with Ryo Miyaichi at Bolton Wanderers and believes the on-loan teenager has a 'real desire' to progress. Miyaichi joined Bolton before the close of the January transfer window and has impressed in his three appearances for the club to date. The 19-year-old's form earned him an international call-up this week but his hopes of a first cap were dashed as he remained an unused substitute during Japan's World Cup qualifying loss to Uzbekistan. However, while Coyle was disappointed the winger did not figure for his country, the Bolton boss has been delighted by the player's attitude.

Enthusiasm

Coyle said: "He is a young player that continues to get better and we are trying to bring him on in the right way. "We are giving him the platform for him to realise how far he wants to go in the game. "We have seen it before - Jack Wilshere, Danny Sturridge - we gave them the opportunities. "He comes on with freshness, enthusiasm, pace, quality. He has a real desire to push himself on and I love working with that type of young player. "Because of how well Ryo has played for us, he has emerged to be in the national squad. Then he goes and he is not used, and we think he could have been here with us all week. "But he is very patriotic and takes great pride in that. "Even though he has travelled halfway around the world he should still be fresher than he would have been had he done that and played 90 minutes."
