Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has admitted it was a 'no-brainer' to sign a new deal which will keep him at Goodison Park until 2016.
The USA international has committed his long-term future to the Premier League side and will complete a decade on Merseyside if he sees out his new deal.
Howard, who celebrated his 33rd birthday earlier this week, joined the Toffees from Manchester United on an initial loan deal in 2006 before making the move permanent the following year.
The New Jersey-born shot-stopper is an integral member of David Moyes' squad and admitted he was delighted to extend his stay with a club he now regards as home.
Smile
Howard told the club's
official website: "I couldn't be happier. I've had a smile on my face ever since we finalised the deal.
"When you have a really good relationship in life and both sides are eager to continue and keep that going, it's a no-brainer.
"This hasn't been a knockdown, drawn-out type of negotiation with meetings or anything like that. They were very happy to keep me here and I was very, very happy to stay.
"It's a place that is home for me."
