Ligue 1 title hopefuls confident striker will shun summer switch
Ligue 1 high-fliers Montpellier are confident UEFA Champions League qualification will convince Olivier Giroud to remain at the club.
Reports continue to link the France international with a summer switch elsewhere, with Arsenal believed to be among those tracking the striker.
Montpellier are reluctant to part with the 25-year-old, though, and claim no offers have been put to them as yet.
They hope that will remain the case, with the club determined to retain the services of their key men and build on a productive campaign that could yet see them crowned Ligue 1 champions.
"If we play in the Champions League next season, I believe he will stay," Montpellier chairman Louis Nicollin told
L'Equipe on Giroud's future.
"When we signed him from Tours in 2010 it is like we won the lottery.
Fee
"If he stays at Montpellier he will give maximum effort.
"I can't offer him the same wages he could get elsewhere, but we haven't set a transfer fee and we haven't had any offers."
Montpellier are also hoping a number of other key men can be persuaded to remain at Stade de la Mosson this summer.
"The same thing applies to defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who is keen to leave," added Nicollin.
"And it is out of the question that Younes Belhanda will leave."
