Reports in Italy claim that Tottenham failed with a double raid on Lazio for Hernanes and Miroslav Klose.
It is claimed Spurs tried to lure both players from Rome over the course of the summer.
Italian sources claim Spurs were ready to pay €15million for Brazilian international midfielder Hernanes - but neither the player or Lazio were keen.
Hernanes' agent Joseph Lee says he has met with Lazio president Claudio Lotito - who is more than happy with the Brazilian.
"I met president Lotito at Villa San Sebastiano. We talked about today, and also about the future," he told
lalaziosiamonoi.it.
"Lotito has confirmed to me that Hernanes is a very important player for Lazio, but I would not to enter into the details of our discussions.
"Extending the contract? Hernanes has an agreement that ties him to SS Lazio until 2015 so there is still time."
German veteran Klose, 34, claims Tottenham made an approach for him - but he wants to see out the remaining two-years of his contract.
"Tottenham came looking for me, but I signed for Lazio until 2014 and I intend to respect that contract," he told
Sportal.it.
Klose insists he stayed as he is very happy to work under coach Vladimir Petkovic.
"Petkovic is one of the greats. The Scudetto will be difficult, but I can't yet say how far we will go."
