He scored a club-record 175 Premier League goals, but his talents extended to so much more. He served up jinking runs, audacious lobs and devastating strikes, and rightly has his place on the shortlist for the best player ever to be seen in England.

Cristiano Ronaldo was at his effervescent best with this thumping free kick

Wherever he went, there was a constant buzz and excitement around Cristiano Ronaldo.

He had the 'X Factor' quality that meant Premier League defences simply couldn't read what he was going to do next. Ronaldo expertly strode the fine line between confidence and arrogance which is needed to fill the No 7 shirt at Old Trafford.

He was capable of pulling a rabbit out of the hat when Manchester United needed him most. Right on cue, he’d seemingly always turn up with unrivalled flair and match-winning displays.

Alan Shearer scored a typically stunning volley for Newcastle in a 2-1 win against Everton in the 2002/03 season

Alan Shearer is the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer with 260 goals and his knack for hitting the back of the net was phenomenal.

The word 'legendary' can often be overused but it is not an inappropriate term to describe Shearer's goal contributions.

His awareness and understanding meant he was a step ahead of the opposition. He could anticipate exactly how things were going to pan out so he could step in and make his mark on proceedings.

Shearer notched up all kinds of finishes as he continually dazzled Premier League defences. Volleys, headers, long-range goals, you name it; he had it all in his arsenal.

You can watch plenty more moments from great players here - including the likes of Eric Cantona, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira and Andy Cole. Take a look and cast your vote for the greatest moment of all time from the world's most exciting league.
