Manchester United 3-0 Sunderland: Wayne Rooney pleased to be back among the goals

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney was pleased to end his 1,000-minute goal scoring drought in a 3-0 win over Sunderland.
Rooney had a difficult opening 45 minutes, as he was stifled by a more rigid-looking Sunderland defence.
However, after Memphis Depay had broken the deadlock on the stroke of half-time, Rooney bundled the ball over the line after just one minute of the second period, with Juan Mata completing the scoring in stoppage time.
Rooney appreciated the role played by Anthony Martial in the creation of United's second, and looked relieved to have finally netted.
"I saw Anthony make a good run, and when I saw he had got around the defender, I tried to get into the box and get on the end of it, and thankfully I did," Rooney said.
"Obviously, it is nice to score today"
The result sees United leapfrog rivals City to go top of the league, but Rooney is not getting carried away.
"It is early days. We have been working hard to get there," Rooney added. "It is nice to be top but we know there is a long way to go.
"It is always tough against teams near the bottom of the league who come and defend, but three points and three goals is the main thing.
"We knew about the City result, but we had to concentrate on ourselves. It is dangerous as it can give you false hope."
