Adnan Januzaj provided Louis van Gaal with a reminder of what he can do to by scoring twice for Manchester United's reserves on Monday.

The winger was playing for the club's U21 team in the Manchester Senior Cup, starring in a 4-0 win over Oldham.

His first goal was a fine curled effort as he checked inside an opponent, turned the ball on to his right foot then bent in from the edge of the penalty area.

Andreas Pereira and Regan Poole also struck in the match at United's Carrington training complex as the hosts set up a semi-final tie with Bury.

Januzaj was recalled from his loan at Borussia Dortmund in January after starting just three games for the German side, all in the Europa League.

Yet, even with United struggling with injuries in recent weeks, the 21-year-old has still only played 14 minutes for the first team since he returned to Old Trafford.

His European involvement with Dortmund means Januzaj will not be in United's squad for their Europa League last-16 tie with Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday.

Instead, he will look to Sunday's home FA Cup quarter-final with West Ham as he hopes for his first start for the club since August.

Januzaj first broke through at United in 2013 when he was given his debut by David Moyes and made his mark initially with both goals in a 2-1 win at Sunderland.

He made 15 starts in the 2013/14 campaign but was restricted to just seven last season and now appears to be further out of the picture under Van Gaal.
