Nicky Butt is Manchester United's new reserves coach until a replacement for Warren Joyce can be found.

The former United and England midfielder was the club's Head of Academy, but has received a temporary promotion following the appointment of Joyce as the new Wigan manager earlier in the week.

Butt has previously coached the U19 teams that competed in the UEFA Youth League in 2013 and 2015.

United's reserves play a friendly at Brentford on Saturday afternoon before their next Premier League 2 fixture with Sunderland on November 21.

Butt, a member of United's famed Class of '92, became academy boss in February when he replaced Brian McClair, who vacated the role in June 2015 when he left to become the Scottish Football Association's performance director.
