The Norwegian was hoping to follow in the footsteps of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer but, while the `Baby-faced Assassin` earned a place in Old Trafford folklore with his winner in The Nou Camp last May, Nevland is now feels he is further away from the first team than ever.
The boyhood United fan told a Norwegian newspaper: "It`s not exactly going well. I can`t even remember when I last played 90 minutes."
"The situation is not completely hopeless," he added. "At least not yet. But I am farther from a place in the first 11 now than I was a few months ago. I don`t regret coming here at all. Who wouldn`t have accepted such an offer? At least I have played six games for Manchester United. There are not many Norwegians who have done that."
The Under-21 international will play against Spain on Saturday but he may leave United after only one goal in their colours - in the Worthington Cup against Bury. "I doubt that I will sign a new contract," he stated. "My chances are getting slimmer and slimmer."
