AIMAR IMPRESSES ON DEBUT
PABLO 'El Payaso' Aimar's debut for Valencia against Manchester United did not go unnoticed, as Dutch legend Johan Cruyff extolled the virtues of the diminutive Argentinian.
The skilful star impressed a host of people, and Cruyff was lost for words trying to describe Aimar's talent.
Former Ajax and Barcelona star Cruyff was at La Mestalla stadium on Wednesday evening, commentating on the Champions League game for a Dutch television channel.
He admitted that he was very impressed by Aimar's display and only had positive things to say about the Argentinian international.
Speaking on the telecast, Cruyff said: "Now it is evident that he will be a great player. He has it all. Perfect ball control, a great sense of position, he knows where his colleagues are and he has an excellent touch.
"As I have said before, he has everything to make a difference in Europe. He is a new star. Even though he is very young and still growing, he is already very good.
"Imagine what he will be like in a few years?"
This obviously impressed Cruyff's co-presenter who exclaimed: "Johan, I have never heard you speak like that before."
Cruyff responded: "True, but it has been so long since I have seen a such a promising player as this one."
