Gabriel Heinze has spoken of his contentment at Manchester United.Gabriel Heinze has spoken of his contentment at Manchester United after an assured debut campaign at Old Trafford.
The tough tackling Argentine has quickly established himself as a fans' favourite in Manchester following several wholehearted and accomplished displays in the red of United.
Although United finished a disappointing campaign without silverware, Heinze's reputation grew as he became arguably the club's most consistent performer.
Recently voted as Player of the Season in the club's magazine, Heinze concedes that his first season in England has been an unqualified success - with the exception of an injury which saw him miss United's FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal.
''My personal aim was to show people that I could play in such a big team and in such an important league,'' Heinze told The Sun.
''I'd been told it was very difficult but I feel I rose to the challenge.
''On balance, my first season went very well. It wasn't easy to adapt to the way the game is played in England.
''Fortunately everything turned out well, apart from being injured late in the season.
''However, I'm not the kind of person to relax and I know I could lose my place if I don't keep up the good work.
''So I aim to play even better when the new season starts.''
