United captain praises boss' man-management skills
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic believes one of the most important qualities of Sir Alex Ferguson is the confidence he gives to his players.
Ferguson celebrates 25 years in charge of United this weekend and he has amassed 37 trophies during his glittering reign at Old Trafford.
He has seen United usurp arch rivals Liverpool in terms of most titles won after landing a record-breaking 19th top-flight crown last season and has rebuilt his squad on numerous occasions.
Vidic is one of the players to have flourished under Ferguson and the Serbia defender has praised the Scot's man-management skills in an era when players are perceived to hold all the aces.
Great manager
"The most important thing he gives to players is confidence," said Vidic.
"He believes in them. He trusts them.
"When you have a hard time, he is always there for you. This is what helped me, especially in the first six months.
"He helps players move from the bad times and we all have them.
"Obviously, with the experience he has and the trophies he has won, it doesn't take me to say how important he is to this club.
"Sometimes he can be really hard, sometimes he can be nice.
"This is the thing. He always knows how he should act with the players. That is why I think he is a great manager."
