Teenage midfielder shrugs off talk of Man Utd interest

Oliver Torres does not want to leave Atletico Madrid and would not consider going on loan amid reported interest from Manchester United. The 17-year-old midfielder was watched by Sir Alex Ferguson's scouts in March after he rose to prominence by being named as the player of Copa Atletico. Reports now suggest several more clubs have joined United in their admiration for Torres after he starred as Spain won the Under 19 European Championship. Despite the interest, the talented playmaker wants to stay with Atletico and make his name for the club where he has risen through the ranks to join the first-team squad for pre-season training. "I would not accept a loan deal because that would be hard for me," he told AS. "I have had a chance to leave before and I have not done so because my dream has always been to stay here and be a success with Atletico de Madrid. "Now I hope that one day Cholo (coach Diego Simeone) has confidence in me and I can show him that I am ready. "I am conscious that I am still only 17 and that I have to work hard in order to succeed."
