John Terry is set to miss Chelsea's Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain with the same hamstring injury that has kept him out for the last five matches.
The Blues' interim boss Guus Hiddink had hoped Terry would be fit for the second leg of the last-16 tie, but has confirmed that the Chelsea skipper is still suffering with the injury he picked up in Chelsea's 5-1 Premier League win over Newcastle last month.
Hiddink had planned to include Terry in a practice match at the weekend to improve his fitness, but instead is now targeting Chelsea's FA Cup quarter-final tie away at Everton on Saturday as a possible date for his captain's return.
He said: 'I don't think John will make Wednesday. For the time being, there has not been enough development to put him on the list.
"It's not worse - he trained and had treatment on Saturday morning, and he can run, but he cannot go into a longer stretch where you have to accelerate. There he has to be careful.
"When he is ready to do so, maybe on Tuesday, he will play in a practice match, but I don't think he will make it. Hopefully, let's see what can be done for next weekend."
Despite heading in to the tie without his captain, Hiddink believes his team can perform in big matches.
"I don't have any fear about waking them up for big games - they will be there," he added. "We are underdogs, but let's be very tough underdogs."
Meanwhile, striker Diego Costa looks set to return for the contest after sitting out at the weekend during Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Stoke with a minor tendon injury.
