Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Fiorentina left-back Marcos Alonso, according to Sky Sources.
A deal is yet to be agreed but it is anticipated that a bid of £24m is imminent from Antonio Conte's Blues.
Alonso, 25, has enjoyed two previous spells in England, spending three seasons at Bolton between 2010 and 2013 and a six-month loan spell with Sunderland in 2014.
Since then the former Real Madrid academy player and Spain U19 international has spent two full seasons with Fiorentina, making 75 appearances in all competitions, helping the club to a fifth-placed finish in Serie A last campaign.
Alonso would join N'Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi as Chelsea's third major summer signing should a deal be completed before Wednesday's deadline.
Should the transfer go through, Alonso would be available to make his Chelsea debut after the international break against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday September 11.
