Eden Hazard is set to miss Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Sunderland on Wednesday night, Sky sources understand.
It is understood he picked up a knock in Chelsea's 1-0 win over West Brom at Stamford Bridge at the weekend. He was replaced by Branislav Ivanovic with 11 minutes to go in the game and has stayed at the club's training ground in Cobham to receive treatment on the problem.
The Belgian has been in outstanding form this season, scoring eight goals and providing one assist to help the Blues to nine wins in a row in the league and top spot in the table.
Ahead of the trip to the Stadium of Light, Chelsea declined to comment on Hazard's unavailability.
It will be the first game the 2015 PFA Player of the Year will have missed for Chelsea this season. Willian is expected to start in his place.
Antonio Conte's side can go six points clear at the top of the Premier League with a win over Sunderland after second-placed Arsenal lost 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park on Tuesday night.
