Gordon Strachan and Curtis Davies discuss Callum Hudson-Odoi's position at Chelsea and why he should leave on loan

Chelsea should loan out Callum Hudson-Odoi rather than let him join Bayern Munich on a permenant deal, says Gordon Strachan.

Bayern have made four bids to sign the 18-year-old, who has only made three Premier League appearances for Chelsea.

Sky Sports News understands Hudson-Odoi will not take up Chelsea's latest contract offer and wants to leave.

But former Scotland manager Strachan told The Debate: "I would put him on loan to a really good club and say he has to play, if he doesn't then we will bring him back. That would give him minutes and he would still be attached to Chelsea.

"This is not an easy decision. The priority has to be getting him games between 18-21. If he does that, with the talent he has got, then he will flourish from the age of 21. If he doesn't do that then he could flitter out of the game.

From Callum Wilson to Marko Arnautovic, Steve Sidwell and Phil Babb debate which striker Chelsea could sign this month

"Will he have more chance to play at Chelsea or Bayern Munich? You need to speak to the people who are involved and then he has to take a chance himself.

"The most important thing for these kids between 18-21 is playing regular football. I worry about Ruben Loftus-Cheek because he's a real talent but he doesn't play much. It's not enough to learn the game."

Derby defender Curtis Davies thinks Hudson-Odoi could be looking at following Jadon Sancho, who has flourished at Borussia Dortmund after leaving Manchester City.

He said: "It's whether Chelsea will offer him a big deal and will say 'we want you to be involved in games' like he has been recently, or whether he decides he wants to leave and join Bayern Munich and try to do what Jadon Sancho did, which is leave a British club and now find himself in the England squad and playing at the top of the Bundesliga."
