Maurizio Sarri says he was pleased by the partnership between Eden Hazard and Gonzalo Higuain

Maurizio Sarri thinks the partnership between Gonzalo Higuain and Eden Hazard showed encouraging signs as they both scored twice in Chelsea's 5-0 win over Huddersfield.

Making his first home appearance since joining on loan, Higuain scored the opening goal in the 16th minute and added a second in the 69th minute.

The striker also linked up well with Hazard, who scored in either half.

Asked about Higuain's display, Sarri said: "I am really happy because apart from the goals he is very suitable to play next to Eden. For us it is very useful.

"When he arrived he wasn't at top physical condition, now he is improving and they are very suitable to play together, close to each other."

Highlights from Chelsea's 5-0 win over Huddersfield in the Premier League

The win was the ideal response for Chelsea after they were thrashed 4-0 by Bournemouth in midweek, but Sarri said he wants to see more.

"We need consistency, so we have to continue," he added. "I am very happy with the match and I hope in the future we will not need a lost match to play with the right mentality."

Chelsea moved back into the top four with victory, although Arsenal could leapfrog them if they win at Manchester City on Sunday, live on Sky Sports Premier League.

"We know we have to fight until the end," Sarri said. "It's not easy in England to get top four. The league is so competitive here, there are six big teams. We have to work and we have to fight.

"We need to fight together otherwise we are in trouble."
