ZENDEN RACE HOTS UP
LAZIO and Chelsea have reportedly joined the chase for Barcelona wide-man Boudewijn Zenden, as the transfer merry-go-round continues across Europe.
The Rome giants had targeted Marc Overmars but Barca appear to be close to landing the Arsenal ace, thus making his Dutch international team-mate Zenden surplus to requirements.
With Sergio Conceicao interesting Parma, Sven-Goran Eriksson is expected to move for another winger, even though the Portuguese star usually operates down the right flank.
Eriksson admires the hard-working Zenden, who was also strongly linked to Tottenham, Liverpool and Fiorentina during the European Championships.
The Dutch winger is being rated at around £7.75 million, with Chelsea also now being credited with an interest in his services, and a move to Italy might well be in the pipeline.
