Chelsea target Miralem Sulejmani has confirmed he wants to leave Heerenveen in the summer.
Heerenveen striker aims to follow Van Nistelrooy's career path
Chelsea target Miralem Sulejmani has confirmed he wants to leave Heerenveen at the end of the season.
The teenage striker has struck 14 goals in the Eredivisie this term and has been watched by Premier League giants Chelsea.
He was previously expected to spend another year with Heerenveen after his agent told
skysports.com that he was honoured by interest from Stamford Bridge.
However, Sulejmani feels that his career will be best served by changing clubs this summer, particularly as Heerenveen coach Gertjan Verbeek is leaving for Feyenoord.
Wants to be the best
"Previously, I have always stated that I want to stay for one more year, but that situation has changed," the Serbian told
Voetbal International.
"The most important man in my career until now will move to Feyenoord. That is one reason.
"Despite that SC Heerenveen have told me that they want to revalue my contract, the club haven't let me know anything concrete for months. That is two already.
"That's why it feels like I have to go now. I don't hide my ambitions. I want to become the best player in the world."
Sulejmani, who has been linked with a move to Feyenoord, admits he wants to emulate the career of another striker who spent a season at Heerenveen - Ruud van Nistelrooy.
He added: "Ruud van Nistelrooy also made his first steps in Heerenveen.
"He also only played for one year at this club before he moved on to PSV, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
"I want a career just like Van Nistelrooy."
