Daniel Sturridge is desperate to contribute to Liverpool's season, his uncle has told Sky Sports News HQ.
Sturridge was in the matchday squad at the weekend for the first time in more than two months and is expected to feature in the FA Cup replay at West Ham on Tuesday night.
Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with the striker's recent performances in training and Sturridge's uncle Dean, a former Premier League player with Derby, says the 26-year-old is "chomping at the bit" for a chance.
"Daniel's glad to be fit again," he said. "He's desperate to play and wants to show his team-mates, the fans and everyone connected to the club how passionate he is to be playing football.
"This has probably been the most difficult time in his career. Unfortunately he's had a run of injuries which have stopped his career going the way he would want.
"First and foremost, he wants to show the Liverpool fans how desperate he is to play and score goals, and he wants to contribute to this team that has not played as well this last five or six weeks."
This summer's European Championship is another incentive for Sturridge, and Dean said: "If he does well for his club, he has an opportunity to play for his national side at the Euros."
