Liverpool midfielder James Milner has revealed he is still hungry for trophies ahead of Sunday's Capital One Cup final against Manchester City, as he prepares for life after his playing career.

The 30-year-old believes he still has a number of years ahead of him at the highest level and is eager for more success before his career comes to a close, but admits he has already begun to plan for his retirement.

"I've started doing the coaching badges," said Milner. "I did some at Aston Villa but things got in the way, and I started them again this year."

He added: "I was fortunate enough to win everything at City. They hadn't won anything for such a long time.

"I wanted to go there and help them achieve success and we managed to do that."

Milner passed 400 Premier League appearances earlier this season, having spent five trophy-laden years at Manchester City, winning two league titles, a League cup and an FA Cup.

"The moments when you win a trophy or achieve something are few and far between. I don't want to have any regrets."

Despite winning all of the domestic honours with City, Milner remains determined to add even more trophies to his collection, starting with the Capital One Cup this weekend.
