New Liverpool defender Joel Matip says he will have to build up his strength, in order to hold his own in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old Cameroon international admits it is important to be physically strong to compete in the top flight of English football, having moved to Anfield on a free transfer.
Matip, who was born in Bochum, spent seven years at Schalke before joining Reds' boss Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside.
Looking ahead to football in England, the defender told Liverpool FC's official website: "I am ready but I have work to do on my body.
"This is another league, so I will have to work on my body to play here and to be physically strong for the Premier League.
"I decided to do it myself, but I think the coaching staff and manager will help me reach this level and to be fit for the season.
"Of course, the Bundesliga is at a high level. Maybe it's a different level, but it's also a high level and I think I have got enough to play here."
