Paul Merson does not believe Jurgen Klopp would leave Liverpool to take the vacant Bayern Munich job.

Carlo Ancelotti was sacked by Bayern this week following their 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Klopp, who managed Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga prior to joining Liverpool, has been linked with the role at the Allianz Arena by media reports in England.

"If Liverpool can sort out their defence they will be big players in this league," Merson said. "That Bayern Munich team is aging.

"It is a million miles away from winning the Champions League now. They might win the German league but I wouldn't leave Liverpool for that."
