Sadio Mane believes the experience in Liverpool's dressing room will enable his side to maintain their form in the Premier League title race.

The Senegal international has scored nine league goals this season, including a crucial fourth in Liverpool's 4-3 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend, which maintained their four-point lead over Manchester City.

With third-placed Tottenham having fallen nine points adrift of the leaders, the final 15 games look set to be a two-horse race between Liverpool and City.

"We have experience now," Mane told Liverpoolfc.com. "Of course we are confident if we're winning - but not too much, we know what can happen. We are still professional footballers and we're still going to try to take it game by game.

"The season is long and we have many games. Making pressure for ourselves doesn't help. Why not just try to win games until the end of the season?"

Liverpool's early exits from both domestic cups mean that they will have had 10 days off by the time they return to action against Leicester on Wednesday, by which point City will have played a match in either competition.

The break has enabled Liverpool to get a number of players back - or at least close - to full fitness, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum all in line to feature against Leicester.

"It's good for us to have a few days off and get a few injured players back, because now there's quite a lot," Mane continued.

"We still have a strong team. (And) the other players are going to give their best for the team."
