Hartley signs Hearts deal
Paul Hartley has signed a new deal with Hearts.
Hearts star Paul Hartley has ended speculation regarding his future by signing a new deal at Tynecastle. The Scottish international handed in a transfer request after seeing a bid from Celtic rejected in January, and had also spurned the offer of a new deal with just 12 months remaining on his current agreement.
However, new boss George Burley has been keen to keep hold of the attacking midfielder, and, with the Edinburgh side top of the league, Hartley is happy to pledge his future to the capital club.
Hearts' cause has been helped by the financial input of owner Vladimir Romanov, and they have reached an accord with the man who has scored in both his side's victories so far this season.
Romanov's input has seen Burley's side emerge as this year's favourites to do the unthinkable and break the SPL duopoly, and Foulkes has warned that the Edinburgh outfit are no longer a soft touch when it comes to selling their best players.
"We would not have been able to bring in these new players and keep other players like Paul Hartley without Vladimir Romanov's financial assistance," said Hearts chairman George Foulkes.
