Jose Enrique will be helping Alberto Moreno to settle at Liverpool despite the competition he provides for a left-back berth.

As part of a busy summer of transfer activity at Anfield, Moreno completed a £12million switch from Sevilla.

The 22-year-old has been thrown straight into Premier League action, and netted his first goal for his new employers in a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spaniard would appear to be finding his feet on Merseyside, which is good news for Brendan Rodgers but potentially bad for Enrique – not that the former Newcastle United man has any complaints having only made his return from 10 months out with a knee problem at White Hart Lane.

Enrique said: “He’s settled in really well.

“I remember my first year at Newcastle was really, really difficult. But he has something I didn’t, and that’s people here who can speak Spanish.

“He is getting his chance and against Tottenham he had a fantastic game and the goal was brilliant.

“I want to play, that’s the reality, but I am going to help him, like I have already, with anything he needs.”
