Hammers midfielder delighted to be rewarded for efforts

Arsene Wenger has been named Manager of the Month for February, with West Ham United midfielder Scott Parker taking the player prize. Arsenal enjoyed a positive month in the Premier League to remain in contention for a first top-flight title since 2004. The Gunners opened February with a home success over Everton and also beat Wolves and Stoke City at Emirates Stadium. The only blip in the league came at St James' Park when Arsenal let slip a 4-0 lead at half-time to draw 4-4 with Newcastle United. However, it was still enough for Wenger to be named Manager of the Month for the first time since 2007.

Great honour

Parker, meanwhile, has been awarded the players' prize for his efforts in spearheading West Ham's bid to stay in the Premier League. The England midfielder has been the heartbeat of the Hammers team this season and scored a fine goal in last week's 3-1 win over Liverpool. "It is certainly a great honour," Parker told the club's official website. "Things are obviously going well personally and I'm absolutely delighted to win this award and am very pleased with the way things are going. Personally, it's very good. "To get this award is very pleasing, so hopefully we can now pick up some results and stay up to round it off."
