Welshmen keen to represent Team GB at London 2012

Wales captain Aaron Ramsey wants to join Gareth Bale in representing Great Britain at next summer's Olympics in London. The Football Association of Wales, along with its Scottish and Northern Irish counterparts, is opposed to its players appearing for Stuart Pearce's side as it fears that it will threaten its independence. But Tottenham winger Bale, the Wales Footballer of the Year, had previously stated his desire to be involved and the FAW has no legal basis to prevent him or Ramsey from being selected. Arsenal midfielder Ramsey has echoed Bale's sentiments and the 20-year-old has also followed his compatriot's lead in posing in a potential Team GB blue jersey. Ramsey told Four Four Two: "If we have the opportunity to play, why not? You're representing Great Britain in the Olympics. "Having the chance to win a gold medal doesn't come around very often. "Players, if given the opportunity, should go ahead and do it; I don't see what the problem is. I've spoken to Gareth Bale and he's up for it. "I think the Welsh are fine with it. It's up to the players."
