There was a real party atmosphere around Highbury ahead of kick-off, with the home crowd waiting to see Arsenal put their name in the history books.

It didn't all go quite to plan in the opening passages of play. Paul Dickov gave Leicester an early lead, but Thierry Henry settled any nerves with a penalty just after half-time.

Silvinho silenced Stamford Bridge with this long-range effort during the 2000-2001 season

Silvinho's jaw-dropping strike at Stamford Bridge lives long in the memory of Arsenal supporters. From the moment the ball left the Brazilian's boot, the fans expected it to bend into the top-left corner.

It was a goal that ensured Arsenal hauled Chelsea back in dramatic fashion after conceding a two-goal deficit at half-time.

Silvinho only spent two years in north London but he is remembered for his flair and attacking talents rather than his ability to track back.

Jack Wilshere rounds off a fine team move for Arsenal against Norwich City during the 2013-14 season

Jack Wilshere was the architect of this goal, exchanging a series of intricate passes with Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla on the edge of the area, before calmly applying the finish.

The goal consisted of nine passes, 27 touches and a well-placed shot all in the space of 20 devastating seconds.

It won Wilshere the goal-of-the-season award and left his team-mates gushing with praise of the outrageous move.

Mesut Ozil said: "It was real 'tiki taka' - almost like they were playing PlayStation! It was an unbelievable goal."

Robert Pires scored a hat-trick as Southampton were hit for six by Arsenal during the 2002-03 season

Only one game in Premier League history has seen two players from the same team score a hat-trick.

Jermaine Pennant scored three in a 6-1 home win, but it was Robert Pires' hat-trick that caught the eye. The exquisite chip for the sixth goal was a joy to behold, leaving Southampton keeper Paul Jones stranded.

On the day Arsenal announced their move to a new 60,000-seater stadium would be completed in 2006, they struck a huge blow on their FA Cup final opponents a week before their Cardiff showdown.
